MAPS
MAPS (Music Art Puppet Sound, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that creates and implements exceptional arts curricula. MAPS builds original curricula that includes state standard and specific grade-level goals through exciting, hands-on arts experiences using many types of media including visual arts, puppetry, sound, music, dance and video-art. In our programming, we strive to create imaginative art-making spaces where participants can thrive as they explore a range of artistic media while maintaining an academic focus. We hope to spark deep curiosity about ideas and process, encourage creative friendships and give students the freedom to play and invent. We believe that creative practice can provide emotional relief in difficult circumstances. MAPS is at once an experimental art playground, a space for creative discourse and an educational program.

Brooklyn Conservatory of Music
The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music will oversee this program and provide the teachers, all of whom are professional musicians. Children are provided with high quality instruction and loaned an instrument to use for the school year. Students are taught in ensemble groups: clarinets, flutes, percussion and trumpets. Children will be asked to rank their instrument preference, and though we will try to give them their first choice, they will be assigned an appropriate instrument.
